    To encrypt data at rest and preserve functionality, Salesforce built the encryption services natively into the Salesforce Platform. Encryption strengthens the data security.

    We use your data encryption key to encrypt data that your users put into Salesforce, and to decrypt data when your authorized users need it. An encryption policy is your plan for encrypting data with Shield Platform Encryption.
