Some quick questions about synchronizing data between Salesforce and other systems....
Is it just me or do other admins and developers in this group still find it challenging to keep Salesforce data in sync with their other business systems? Despite having enterprise class integration tooling, keeping data in sync between Salesforce and external business systems such as an ERP system remains a challenge. I have found most integration tools/platforms are reliable for transforming data models and inserting new records but not so reliable when it comes to handling events such as an "unintended" record deletions on complex objects in the target system. Recovering from exceptions such as temporary records locks during integration is also problematic. I have found error logs to be a "good enough" approach when errors are few, but the times it takes to chase down and fix many errors can quickly overwhelm a team especially when "leaky" and fast changing business rules/workflows are steadily driving up the error count.
I've been working on this problem over the last few years and I'm keen to know if others are also having a similar experience. so my questions for the group are:Do you or your peers actually have this problem?
Would you say this problem is widespread in the Salesforce community?
Is this a serious problem that keeps admins up at night?
If you have this problem could you share your approach or experience in dealing with it?Thanks in advance for your thoughts....cheers
